Here’s why BJD leader VK Pandian took auto-rickshaw to reach polling station in Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar: BJD leader VK Pandian took everyone by surprise as he reached a polling station here in an auto-rickshaw to cast his vote during the third phase of twin polls in Odisha, today.

He arrived at the polling station located in Unit-6 area of the city in the morning and stood in a queue with other voters to exercise his franchise.

On being asked by reporters as to why he came in the three-wheeler, Pandian said, “The auto-rickshaw association members had requested me when I met them couple of months ago. They are our brothers. So, I came in an auto-rickshaw. In my student days, I used to travel in auto-rickshaws and motorcycles. I was happy to come in auto-rickshaw to cast my vote.”

“In democracy and judiciary, everyone is equal. It’s better that one does like a common man,” he commented on being asked about standing in queue.

“Everyone should participate in the festival of democracy and exercise their votes. You have to be a part of the vibrant democracy of India. Let’s all join together and increase the voting percentage and come in large numbers to cast votes,” Pandian added.
