Highest single-day spike of 124 COVID-19 cases in Bhubaneswar; tally hits new high

Bhubaneswar: Bhubaneswar reported the highest single-day spike of 124 COVID-19 positive cases in last 24 hours taking the total count to another new high.

Of all-time high fresh cases, 72 have been detected from quarantine centres and 52 are local contacts, informed Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) today.

While 9 cases have been reported from Nuagaon area, 8 cases have been detected from Nayapalli area, linked with two different earlier positive cases.

With the new positive cases, the COVID-19 tally in Bhubaneswar increased to 1043 with 574 active cases. The fatality number in the city stands at 11 and 457 patients have recovered from the deadly virus so far.

Following detection of more than 100 new cases in Bhubaneswar, further contact tracing is still continuing. Primary contacts and nearby houses are being quarantined, sanitised and will be under active surveillance, BMC tweeted.
