Hippo dies at Nandankanan zoo in Odisha

Bhubaneswar: Another sad news was reported from Nandankanan Zoological Park (NZP) on outskirts of the city today with death of a hippo amidst herpes scare following a series of elephant deaths at the wildlife habitat.

The female hippo was ailing since a long time. The animal died battling an ailment, informed NZP authorities.

The death of semiaquatic mammal again raised question on hygiene being maintained on premises of Nandankanan for the wildlife less than a month after herpes virus claimed lives of four elephants.
