The Indian Railways today ordered an inquiry into the derailment of Jagdalpur-Bhubaneswar Hirakhand Express near Kuneru railway station in Vizianagaram district on the Andhra-Odisha border yesterday night.

The inquiry which will begin from tomorrow will be conducted by the Railway Safety Commissioner (South Central Circle) who is based in Hyderabad.

The Commissioner will hold a meeting at the Railway Officers’ Guest House at Rayagada tomorrow and begin formal inquiry from Tuesday morning.

Anyone can depose before the Commissioner on the accident, said departmental sources.

“The inquiry process will begin from tomorrow. The inquiry will be conducted by Commissioner of Railway Safety (South Central Circle) Ram Kripal. Any individual having any knowledge/information about this accident can record their statements before the Commission. All possible angles will be probed,” informed Jyoti Prakash Mishra, Chief PRO East Coast Railways.
