Bhubaneswar: Amidst incessant rain across Odisha, authorities today closed another four gates of Hirakud dam to keep the water level maintained at the reservoir.
With closure of 4 gates, the floodwater is currently being discharged from the dam through 10 gates.
Earlier in the day, six sluice gates were closed at the reservoir and the floodwater was being released from 14 gates.
At present, the water level of Hirakud reservoir stands at 625.15 ft against total storage capacity of 630 ft. The average water inflow was recorded 2,52,017 cusec and water outflow was 1,80,451 cusec at 12.00 pm today.
Meanwhile, the water level at Rengali dam on Mahanadi River is rising. The water level at the dam was recorded 122.55 metre at 6.00 am today against full reservoir level of 123.50 metre. While 718.13 cubic metre per second (cumecs) water is entering into the dam, the water outflow was 535.57 cumecs in the morning.
