Hirakud dam closes two gates; water level steady

Bhubaneswar: In view of falling of water inflow into Hirakud dam, authorities today closed two sluice gates to keep the water level maintained.

Currently, the floodwater is being discharged through 10 sluice gates after closure of two gates.

The water level is steady at the reservoir with 625 ft against total storage capacity of 630 ft at 6.00 am on Saturday, informed Water Resources Department in a tweet.

On Friday at 10.00 pm, the average inflow of water into the dam was recorded 1,88,815 cusec and average outflow was 2,14,225 cusec.

Meanwhile, the water level at Rengali dam was 122.50 metre (steady) against Full Reservoir Level of 123.50 metre yesterday night.
