Bhubaneswar: International woman Hockey player Namita Toppo will receive the prestigious ‘Ekalabya Puraskar’ for 2020. The award jury committee unanimously selected Namita today to receive the 28th ‘Ekalabya Puraskar’.
She will receive cash reward of Rs 5 lakh and a citation as part of the award.
Born on June 4, 1995 in Jauramala village of Sundargarh district, Namita is a midfielder. She is a product of Sports Hostel, Panposh.
Namita played for the national women’s Hockey team against England during the 2018 Women's Hockey World Cup in London. She was also part of the Olympic squad which represented India in the summer Olympics.
International Weightlifter Snhea Soren and Badminton player Rutaparna Panda will also be felicitated with cash prize of Rs 50,000 and a citation each during the ‘Ekalabya Puraskar’ award ceremony.
