Holy water, soil from Odisha sent to Ayodhya for Ram Temple

Puri: The soil of holy pilgrimage Konark Sun Temple and holy water of two rivers from Odisha have been sent to Ayodhya for the ‘bhoomi pujan’ (ground-breaking ceremony) of the much-awaited Ram Temple, a VHP functionary said on Saturday.

Three members — Rama Krusha Mohanty, Bhagirathy Swain and Sarat Malla of Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) of Konark unit along with other activists associated with the right-wing Hindu organisation had collected holy water of Chandrabhaga River and Prachi River as well as soil of Konark near the Sun Temple on Saturday.

Arrangement has been made to send the soil and water to Ayodhya by courier for the upcoming event scheduled on August 5, said Konark VHP chief Bhagirathy Swain.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to attend the ground-breaking ceremony of the Ram Temple on August 5. Media reports said that the event will be attended by only 200 people adhering to all social distancing norms in view of COVID-19 pandemic.
