Honey trapper Archana Nag case: Congress leader Saluja demands probe be conducted by SIT

Bhubaneswar: Veteran Congress leader Santosh Singh Saluja today demanded that a probe into the much-debated case pertaining to the alleged blackmailing of Odia film producer Akshaya Parija, which is said to be giving sleepless nights to a number of dignitaries in Odisha, must be conducted by a Special Investigation Team (SIT). The ruling BJD government might topple if a fair probe of the case is conducted, he said.

The State government has been trying to hide the facts stored in electronic gadgets like pen-drive, laptop and mobile phone, like previous sensational cases like Kalahandi lady school teacher Mamita Meher murder case.

Some prominent leaders of the party are involved in obnoxious activities. In a sense, they have been promoting flesh trade in Odisha. Moreover, several senior officials of the government are directly or indirectly involved in the case. Illegal assets accumulated by Archana should be seized, truth must surface and wrongdoers must be awarded stringent punishment, the Kantabanji MLA added.

Meanwhile, echoing the same view, Opposition BJP senior leader Prithviraj Harichandan alleged that police have been shielding the delicate issue by acting on the instruction of the State government.

In larger interests, all persons involved in the case must be brought to the fore. The key accused Archana has amassed the properties by adopting unfair means with ‘support’ from top political leaders, officials and businessmen as well. “Law never takes its own course in the State,” Harichandan claimed.
