Hookah bar raided near NIT campus in Rourkela; one detained

Rourkela: Odisha police raided a hookah bar located behind National Institute of Technology (NIT) in Rourkela and seized huge quantity of tobacco flavours from the spot.

The cops also detained one person for interrogation in this connection.

According to reports, police by the order of Rourkela SP have intensified crackdown on hookah bars and several such joints to make the city liquor and contraband-free.

Acting on a tip-off about illegal activities at a hookah bar behind country’s premier institution NIT, a team of police of Sector 3 Police Station conducted raid at the joint on Saturday night.

A scientific team is examining several samples of tobacco flavours and hookah seized during the raid to ascertain the amount of contraband being used in hookahs.

Sources said that police may raid 5-6 hookah bars operated at the steel city in upcoming days.
