Reports said a 10-year-old girl and a young woman were allegedly raped yesterday and four days ago, respectively, whereas another minor girl escaped a rape bid by a youth last night in separate places of the district.
Yesterday afternoon, a youth of Dhauli village under Simulia police limits in Balasore district forcibly took the 10-year-old girl of Keshpur village under Bhadrak Rural police station to an isolated place by gagging her mouth and later raped her. The accused identified as Nanda Dash absconded after committing the crime. The same day, another youth attempted to rape a minor girl in Gujadarada village under Bhadrak Rural police limits when she was alone at her house. However, accused Kanha Jena was later arrested by police for his offence, sources said.
Around four days ago, a 25-year-old woman belonging to a tribal community was gang raped by three miscreants in Bansada area in the district. When she had gone to a nearby field for defecation on the fateful day, the trio took turns to rape her. However, police have arrested the accused identified as Bapuji Das, Bapu swain and Papu and are interrogating them.
