Bhubaneswar: Even though there is no warning of a heatwave in Odisha, people experienced hot and humid weather mostly in the coastal region of the state since yesterday.
According to weather forecast by the Bhubaneswar MeT, the hot and humid weather conditions are likely to prevail across coastal part of Odisha for next 4-5 days. However, the weather is likely to be cloudy in the remaining parts of Odisha during next 24 hours.
The regional meteorological centre of the IMD predicted a heatwave in the interior part of Odisha from May 20.
"The heatwave conditions are likely at isolated places in interior Odisha from May 20. The districts included Nuapada, Balangir, Jharsuguda and Sundargarh where the day temperature is likely to exceed 40 degree C," informed Manorama Mohanty, Director of Bhubaneswar MeT.
On the reason behind the rise in temperature in Bhubaneswar, she clarified that this is due to moisture and clouds spreading over some parts of the state.
"The temperature is rising in Bhubaneswar because of the moisture and clouds spreading over north Odisha, north interior Odisha and even interior Odisha and no clear sky in south coastal Odisha," the weather scientist said.
People of Bhubaneswar woke up to humid weather in the morning today. By 8.30 AM, the temperature in Bhubaneswar was recorded 34.6 degree C with 67% humidity.
