Hot, sultry days back in Odisha after a hiatus

Bhubaneswar: After a gap of some days, most places in Odisha witnessed hot and humid weather condition today.

Boudh recorded the day’s highest maximum temperature of 42 degree Celsius while the mercury crossed 40 degree Celsius at 14 places across the state, said the IMD.

The western Odisha towns of Jharsuguda and Sambalpur recorded the second highest maximum temperature of 41.6 degree C each.

The Steel City of Rourkela recoded 41.4 while the maximum temperature was 41.1 degree C at Angul and 41.0 at Sundargarh, said the IMD.

The maximum temperature touched 40 degree C or above at 8 places in Odisha. These places are Talcher, Bolangir, Jagatsinghpur, Chandbali, Titlagarh, Sonepur, Nayagarh and Kendrapara.

At least six places in the state—Hirakud, Cuttack, Bargarh, Bhawanipatna, Malkangiri and Deogarh—recorded the maximum temperature of 39 degree C or above.

The maximum temperature was 38.2 degree C in the capital city of Bhubaneswar, said the weatherman.
