Hotel sealed in Odisha’s Ganjam for violation of COVID-19 norm

Ganjam: The Ganjam district administration today sealed Hotel Mayfair Gopalpur for allowing a marriage at its premises and not adhering to the social distancing norms and mask wearing as per the COVID-19 guidelines issued by the government.

The hotel has been sealed by the district administration officials for seven days.

In a related development, the Gopalpur Police arrested a youth, his father, two brother and uncle for violating COVID-19 guidelines during his marriage procession at Hotel Mayfair Gopalpur.

The matter came to light after media highlighted the violation of COVID-19 guidelines during the marriage procession. The visuals of the marriage procession show the participants were dancing together without maintaining social distancing and wearing masks.

Earlier in the day, the district administration fined Rs 50,000 on Hotel Mayfair Gopalpur where the marriage was held.

The Regional Transport Office (RTO) has also impounded two vehicles in question.
