Housing facility for teachers in Odisha’s Swabhiman Anchal

Bhubaneswar: After instances of teachers wading through chest-deep water in rivers to reach schools in Swabhiman area of Malkangiri district every day came to fore, the State government today decided to set up a cluster for them so that they can avoid long hours of travel and other hassles.

School & Mass Education Minister Samir Ranjan Dash said the cluster will be set up in Swabhiman area for 10-15 teachers. “Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has announced a Rs 100-crore package for development in Swabhiman area. Of the total package, Rs 10 crore will be spent on education sector. A total of 10 quarters will be built in the cluster where teachers of different schools in Swabhiman area will stay.”

“We hope that the cluster will lessen travel hours of teachers and motivate them to impart better teaching to students,” Dash further said.

Work on the cluster will begin soon. The Malkangiri district administration will decide where the cluster will be set up, he said.
