Huge cache of explosives seized from house in Odisha village; One held

Khariar: Khariar police seized explosives in huge quantity from a house at Tukla village in Nuapada district and arrested one person in this connection.

The accused person has been identified as Prem Sagar Meher (41), resident of Tukla village under Khariar police limits.

According to reports, a police team led by Khariar SDPO along with Khariar Additional Tahasildar conducted raid on the house of Prem Sagar Meher at Tukla village on the intervening night of May 9.

The police found illegal stocks of explosives and the vehicles meant for the purpose of illegal explosion. The accused failed to produce any license for keeping stock of such explosives in huge quantity, Khariar Police informed it today.

The articles seized during the raid included — 15 sealed card board cartons, 2925 gelatin sticks, 29 sealed plastic bags each containing ammonium nitrates weighed at 50 kg each, one sealed carton containing 34 bundles of detonators totaling 844 pieces of detonators, Rs 32,900 cash, Aadhaar card of the accused person, 2 tractors with trolley, 2 tractors fitted with compressor machines, 4 iron crow bars and 1 mobile phone.

The Khariar Police registered a case today under sections 120(B) IPC R.W sections 4/5/6 of Explosive Substance Act.
