Huge cache of fake medicines seized from 3 pharmaceutical firms following raids

Cuttack: With intensification of raids by Cuttack district administration in the last few days, huge cache of fake medicines was seized today from three pharmaceutical firms in the city.

A source said that the firms include M/s Kyal Agencies in Nimchouri, M/s Mahabir Prasad Radheshyam and M/s MH Pharmacy, both in Nayasarak locality and counterfeit medications were seized by a team of local police and drugs control officials, the market value of which is more than Rs 20 lakh.

In the last two weeks, spurious medicines worth over Rs 50 lakh was seized from Cuttack market.

It is pertinent to mention, fake medicines worth Rs 30 lakh were previously seized on September 9.

VR Drug Agency and Puja Enterprisers were raided at that time. Following the raids, two traders of fake Telma-40 blood pressure medicines were arrested in this connection. Based on revelations made by the two arrested during a quizzing by the police, counterfeit medicines including Telma-40 and worth around Rs 3 lakh were further seized from the local branch office of a transport company.
