Huge quantity of illicit liquor seized in Odisha capital, 3 arrested

The Quick Action Team (QAT) of the Twin City Commissionerate Police during a surprise raid this evening seized huge quantity of illicit liquor from the Unit 1 Daily Market in the Odisha capital and arrested three persons on charges of bootlegging.

Police seized 500 bottles of India Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL), sack loads of beer cans and cash from the Unit 1 Daily Market, situated just behind Capital Police Station, police sources said.

The three arrested on bootlegging charges have been identified as Ramachandra Sahu of Pipili, Keshab Pradhan of Sunderpada and Avinna Sahu of Tirumala of Kanas block.

While one of the accused is a betel shop owner, another is a snacks shop owner and Ramachandra, who is popularly known as ‘Liquor Specialist’ used to run a bar of sorts in the market wherein liquor was available round the clock, sources said.
