Huge single-day SPIKE!! Odisha reports 1602 new COVID-19 cases; here’re district-wise tally

Bhubaneswar: Odisha reported the huge single-day spike of 1602 COVID-19 cases on the first day of August month taking total count to 33,479 positive cases.

Of fresh cases, 993 cases have been detected in quarantine centres and 609 are local contacts, informed State Information & Public Relations (I&PR) Department today.

The new positive cases have been detected from 29 districts.

Ganjam district registered the highest number of 308 followed by Khordha district with 285 and Rayagada district (164). For the first time, Gajapati district reported the single-day spike of 108 new cases.

Here’s district-wise new cases detected in the last 24 hours in Odisha:

Angul: 15, Balasore: 29, Bargarh: 13, Bhadrak: 20, Balangir: 38, Boudh: 9, Cuttack: 54, Dhenkanal: 49, Gajapati: 108, Ganjam: 308, Jagatsinghpur: 19, Jajpur: 44, Jharsuguda: 7, Kalahandi: 30, Kandhamal: 45, Kendrapada: 15, Keonjhar: 31, Khordha: 285, Koraput: 46, Malkangiri: 30, Mayurbhanj: 39, Nabarangpur: 9, Nayagarh: 33, Nuapada: 5, Puri: 50, Rayagada: 164, Sambalpur: 39, Sonepur: 6, Sundargarh: 62

With this, the total number of active cases reached 12,737 and 20,517 COVID-19 patients have recovered from the disease in Odisha.
