Bhubaneswar: Huge spike in COVID-19 cases in Odisha. As many as 755 persons tested positive for the deadly virus in the last 24 hours taking the state's count to 11,956, informed the Health and Family Welfare Department.
This is the highest spike in positive cases in the state so far. While 508 of the total cases have been reported from different quarantine centres, remaining 247 are local contacts. Contact tracing and followup action is underway, said the department.
The cases have been reported from 23 districts: Angul (3), Balasore (9), Bargarh (1), Bhadrak (2), Balangir (12), Cuttack (55), Deogarh (4), Dhenkanal (4), Gajapati (30), Ganjam (320), Jagatsinghpur (5), Jajpur (86), Kandhamal (2), Kendrapada (5), Keonjhar (32), Khordha (59) Koraput (5), Malkangiri (18), Mayurbhanj (12) Nayagarh (16), Puri (11), Sambalpur(2) and Sundargarh (62).
In the last 24 hours, 6456 COVID-19 samples were tested. So far 3,21, 443 tests have been conducted in the state.
