Bhubaneswar: Commissionerate Police suspended Janla Police Outpost In-charge in connection with discovery of a human skeleton inside a seized vehicle on premises of the outpost under Jatni Police Station area.
The Outpost In-charge Satyabrata Grahacharya (ASI) was placed under suspension for dereliction in duty, informed DCP Umashankar Dash today.
Speaking about the incident, the DCP said that the skeleton was discovered from a vehicle seized by Berhampur police in connection with a ganja smuggling case in 2019.
“When the Berhampur police came to release the vehicle in February this year, the skeleton was found in the vehicle abandoned on the outpost premises following which we called up a scientific team for examination. The skeleton was sent to the AIIMS Bhubaneswar for post-mortem,” Dash told reporters.
The scientific examination revealed that the skeleton was of a female and she had died naturally. The cause of death is stated to be Tuberculosis (TB).
“The post-mortem report stated that the person died of Tuberculosis. The AIIMS in its report has clearly mentioned that a person aged about 45 years suffering from Tuberculosis probably got stuck inside the vehicle and died naturally. We are trying to ascertain identity of the deceased person,” the DCP added.
The disciplinary action was taken against Janla Outpost In-charge on the grounds that he was unaware of the incident, which occurred on the outpost premises.
Even after clarification by the DCP in the incident, the mystery still shrouds the death of woman putting efficiency of police in the dock.
