The Outpost In-charge Satyabrata Grahacharya (ASI) was placed under suspension for dereliction in duty, informed DCP Umashankar Dash today.

Speaking about the incident, the DCP said that the skeleton was discovered from a vehicle seized by Berhampur police in connection with a ganja smuggling case in 2019.

“When the Berhampur police came to release the vehicle in February this year, the skeleton was found in the vehicle abandoned on the outpost premises following which we called up a scientific team for examination. The skeleton was sent to the AIIMS Bhubaneswar for post-mortem,” Dash told reporters.

The scientific examination revealed that the skeleton was of a female and she had died naturally. The cause of death is stated to be Tuberculosis (TB).

“The post-mortem report stated that the person died of Tuberculosis.
