A woman identified as Kalpana Mukhi (40) of Jereng village under Jarpada police limits in Angul district of Odisha was killed by her husband Nityananda Mukhi (50) on Sunday following a petty fight between the two.
According to police, Nityananda had a quarrel with Kalpana one month ago on suspicion of her fidelity and she was staying at her father's.
The couple's son Muna Mukhi (20) had managed to convince his mother to come home few days ago.
The couple resorted to a fight on Saturday evening regarding withdrawal of money from bank.
The ATM card was in Kalpana's possession which she did not agree to give to her husband and it erupted a quarrel between the duo.
The husband, who was suspicious over his wife's character, became angry after the fight.
On Sunday afternoon while he was repairing a musical instrument on his front yard, an argument took place between the two and Nityananda hacked Kalpana's neck with an axe and the victim died on the spot.
Police reached the spot and sent the body for post mortem arresting the accused.
