I-T raid continues consecutively for second day over tax evasion in Odisha’s Sundargarh

Sundargarh: Separate teams of Income Tax (I-T) sleuths today continued the ongoing raid which started yesterday at several locations associated with a businessman over alleged tax evasion in Sundargarh district and outside.

Searches are being carried out simultaneously at several places linked to Bibhu Panda, including his office and residence in the College Road locality of Sundargarh town, another office, and residence of the businessman in Hemagir, and other business establishments in the district.

The teams are being led by eight-member senior I-T officials from Sambalpur Division. Panda has a coal transport business along with rice mills and other factories at several places in Odisha.

The raids were underway the whole night and continued the next morning.

“The sleuths have seized some important documents during searches and the exact amount of taxes that the businessman evaded can be ascertained after the raids are over,” a source said.
