ICCR office to be closed in Odisha capital

Bhubaneswar: The office of Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) located in Bhubaneswar is going to be closed as it will be shifted to Kolkata in upcoming days.

The move came at a meeting of ICCR statutory bodies held on April 12 triggering sharp reactions among culture researchers in Odisha.

With the decision taken at the high level meeting, the ICCR office at Bhubaneswar and Patna will be shifted to Kolkata and West Bengal, Odisha, Bihar and Jharkhand will come under Kolkata office.

Similarly, Jaipur office will be shifted to Ahemadabad and ICCR office at Thiruvananthapuram will be merged with ICCR office in Chennai, Lucknow office will be shifted to Varanasi, Mumbai and Goa offices will be relocated to Pune and Guwahati office will be shifted to Shillong.

The ICCR office in Odisha was first set up in Ravenshaw University. Later, it was shifted to Palaspalli in Bhubaneswar in 2015.
