ICDS supervisor hospitalised after COVID-19 jab in Odisha

Bhubaneswar: A 59-year-old woman Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) supervisor was today hospitalised after administration of COVID-19 vaccine.

According to reports, the ICDS supervisor of Bijepur in Bargarh district was administered COVID-19 vaccine, following which she developed weakness in lower limbs after 20 minutes.

She was initially treated at the Bijepur Community Health Centre and later shifted to VIMSAR in Burla for better treatment. Her condition was stated to be stable.

Earlier, Odisha had reported two cases of Adverse Event Following Immunization (AEFI) as two healthcare workers were hospitalised after administration of COVID-19 vaccine.

A 27-year-old staff nurse of Bargarh district received COVID-19 vaccine shot on January 16. She developed fever on the same day and was admitted to VIKASH Hospital in Bargarh for observation. Her condition is currently stable.

Similarly, a 45-year-old ASHA worker of Jagatsinghpur district was administered COVID-19 vaccine on January 19, following which she developed headache and fainting attack on the very day. She was then admitted to the District Headquarters Hospital, where her condition was stated to be stable.
