IIC suspended for barging into Srimandir in Odisha’s Puri

Puri: A day after Deepak Kumar Jena, IIC of Badachana Police Station, allegedly barged into the Shree Jagannath Temple in Odisha’s Puri, DGP Abhay today placed him under suspension.

DGP has placed Inspector Deepak Kumar Jena, IIC Badachana PS, under suspension for his misconduct, an official statement said. A case has been registered against Jena at the Singhadwara police station and further investigation was underway.

According to reports, Jena barged into the temple along with his family members through the South Gate last evening despite being resisted by a havildar. Worth mentioning, entry to the temple has been restricted by the state government due to the COVID-19 situation.

On the basis of a complaint lodged by the havildar with Singhadwara police, Jena and his family members were detained.
