Illegal arms smuggler nabbed in city

Bhubaneswar, Oct 27:

The Commissionerate Police arrested a person for allegedly selling illegal arms in the Old Station bazaar area here Saturday. He was forwarded to the court today, police said.

The accused identified as Chandrasekhar Maharana (31) from Pradhan Sahi in Choudwar was booked under section 25/1 (B) of the Arms Act for illegal arms trade. Police have seized a revolver from his possession.

According to the IIC of Laxmisagar police station Kishore Chandra Mund, a night patrolling team led by a sub-inspector conducted a raid at Old Station Bazaar here following a tip-off about the illegal arms sale and caught three persons red handed.

“After interrogation, we got to know that Chandrasekhar was supplying arms to two persons including a student of a city-based private engineering college”. The identity of the third person is yet to be ascertained, he added.

“We have collected enough evidence against Chandrasekhar to put him behind bar. We have detained the engineering student for further interrogation,” the Inspector said.

    I am surprised that , why an Engineering Student need a revolver. My request to Administration and Misters that , lets not make our state like UP.

    It seems in Odisha , its easy to get a GUN even for a student. Being an Engineer I feel ashamed of this.
