IMD forecasts rain, thunderstorm in these Odisha districts on April 30

Bhubaneswar: The IMD has predicted thunderstorm with lightning and gusty surface wind in several districts of Odisha on April 30 (tomorrow).

Thunderstorm with lightning, hail and gusty surface wind reaching up to 40-50 kmph is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur and Bolangir in Odisha on April 30 (Sunday), said the IMD Regional Centre here today. The IMD has issued an orange warning in this regard.

As per the prediction, heavy rain is likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Nabarangpur, Nuapada, Bargarh, Jharsuguda, Sundargarh and Kalahandi tomorrow.

“People are advised to keep a watch on weather condition and take shelter at safer places to protect themselves from lightning. Besides, the commuters should follow traffic advisories in urban areas,” said the weatherman.

The IMD has also issued a yellow warning for thunderstorm with lightning and gusty surface wind reaching up to 30-40 kmph in the districts of Kandhamal, Sonepur, Boudh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri, Cuttack, Jajpur, Bhadrak, Balasore and Deogarh on April 30.

This apart, light to moderate rain or thunderstorm is very likely to occur at many places over the districts of interior Odisha and at a few places over the districts of coastal Odisha on Sunday, said the weather bulletin.

“Several districts of Odisha may witness rain or thunderstorm till May 4. There will be no large change in maximum temperature over the districts of Odisha in the next 4-5 days,” said the IMD bulletin.
