IMD forecasts thunderstorm with lightning in 18 Odisha districts on September 27; check details

Bhubaneswar: Due to prevalent monsoon trough and cyclonic circulation, thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places over 18 districts of Odisha during next 24 hours. India Meteorological Department (IMD) today issued Yellow Warning for the next 24 hours.

In its mid-day bulletin, the IMD mentioned, “A cyclonic circulation is likely to form over north Andaman Sea and neighbourhood around 29th September. Under its influence a Low-Pressure Area is likely to form over north Andaman Sea and adjoining Eastcentral Bay of Bengal during subsequent 24 hours. Thereafter, it is likely to move west-northwestwards with possibility of gradual intensification.”

Light to moderate rain or thundershower is very likely to occur at a few places over the districts of Odisha. The highest maximum temperature of 35.2oC was recorded at Chandbali and the lowest minimum temperature of 21.5oC was recorded at Phulbani in the plains of Odisha.

Yellow Warning (Be Updated)- Thunderstorm with lightning very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Jajpur, Bhadrak, Malkangiri, Koraput, Nabarangpur, Nuapada, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Gajapati, Rayagada, Ganjam, Nayagarh, Khurda, Boudh and Angul.

For Wednesday (Valid from 0830 hrs IST of 27.09.2023 to 0830 hrs IST of 28.09.2023)

Light to moderate rain or thundershower is very likely to occur at a few places over the districts of Malkangiri, Koraput, Nabarangpur, Nuapada, Rayagada, Gajapati and at one or two places over the rest districts of Odisha.
