IMD issues Red alert for severe heatwave condition in 11 Odisha districts on April 27; check details

Bhubaneswar: Severe heatwave condition is very likely to prevail over at least 11 districts of Odisha on April 27 (Saturday), said the IMD in its weather bulletin today.

According to the IMD, heatwave to severe heatwave condition is very likely to prevail over the districts of Kendrapara, Bhadrak, Balasore, Mayurbhanj, Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Dhenkanal, Boudh, Nuapada and Angul on April 27. The weather department has issued a Red warning in this regard.

Similarly, the IMD has predicted heatwave condition over the districts of Sambalpur, Jajpur, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Bolangir, Sonepur, Malkangiri, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Khurda, Ganjam, Gajapati, Nayagarh, Nabarangpur, Deogarh, Bargarh and Rayagada on Saturday. An Orange warning in this regard has been issued by the IMD.

Besides, heatwave condition is very likely to prevail over the districts of Koraput and Puri, added the IMD.

As per the IMD weather report, thunderstorm with lightning may occur over the districts Malkangiri, Korapurt, Rayagada, Ganjam, Gajapati, Khurda and Puri on Saturday.

The day temperature is very likely to rise gradually by 2°C to 3°C at many places over the districts of Odisha during next three days. As a result, the maximum temperature is likely to be above normal by 4 to 6° Celsius over some districts of the state during next four to five days, predicted the IMD.
