IMD issues Yellow Warning in these Odisha districts on November 17; check details

Bhubaneswar: With Deep Depression over westcentral Bay of Bengal that moved north-northeastwards, light to moderate rain or thundershower is very likely to occur at a few places over Odisha districts during next 24 hours, India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasted today.

In its evening bulletin, the IMD said, “The Deep Depression over westcentral Bay of Bengal moved north-northeastwards with a speed of 17 kmph during past 6 hours and lay centred at 0830 hours IST of today, the 16th November over westcentral Bay of Bengal near latitude 17.4°N and longitude 87.0°E, about 390 km east-southeast of Visakhapatnam (Andhra Pradesh), 320 km south-southeast of Paradip (Odisha), 460 km south-southwest of Digha (West Bengal) and 610 km south-southwest of Khepupara (Bangladesh). It is likely to continue to move north-northeastwards, intensify further into a cyclonic storm during next 24 hours and cross Bangladesh coast between Mongla and Khepupara with wind speed of 60-70 kmph gusting to 80 kmph by the early hours of 18th November 2023.”

Minimum temperatures observed marked rise at one or two places over the districts of South Interior Odisha, appreciable rise at a few places over the districts of North and South Coastal Odisha and no large change at elsewhere over the districts of Odisha. They were below normal at one or two places over the districts of Interior Odisha, appreciably above normal at a few places over the districts of Coastal Odisha, above normal at a few places and normal at elsewhere over the districts of Odisha.

For Thursday (Valid up to 0830 hrs IST of 17.11.2023) Light to moderate rain or thundershower is very likely to occur at a few places over the districts of Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara, Bhadrak, and at one or two places over the districts of Cuttack, Jajpur, Balasore, Puri, Khurda, Mayurbhanj and dry weather is very likely to prevail over the rest districts of Odisha.

Yellow Warning (Be Updated): Heavy rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Kendrapara and Jagatsinghpur.

For Friday (Valid from 0830 hrs IST of 17.11.2023 to 0830 hrs IST of 18.11.2023) Light to moderate rain or thundershower is very likely to occur at a few places over the districts of Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara, Bhadrak, and at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Jajpur and dry weather is very likely to prevail over the rest districts of Odisha.
