IMD predicts a spell of heavy to very heavy rainfall in Odisha; check details

Bhubaneswar: Several districts in Odisha may witness heavy to very heavy rainfall for two days starting August 16, said the IMD in its weather bulletin today.

The monsoon trough at mean sea level continues to pass through Amritsar, Karnal, Meerut, Lucknow, Sabour, Golpara and thence eastwards towards Nagaland. The cyclonic circulation over south Bangladesh and neighbourhood extending up to 5.8 km above mean sea level tilting southwestwards with height persists, added the IMD.

August 15: As per the IMD prediction, heavy rainfall is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Sundargarh, Deogarh, Sambalpur, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore and Bhadrak on August 15.

Besides, thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Sundargarh, Deogarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Angul, Dhenkanal and Sambalpur on the day. The IMD has issued a Yellow warning in this regard.

The IMD also predicted light to moderate rain or thundershower at many places over the districts of North Odisha, South Coastal Odisha and at a few places over the districts of South Interior Odisha on August 15.

August 16: According to the forecast, heavy to very heavy rainfall is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Angul, Keonjhar and Mayurbhanj on August 16. The IMD has issued a Yellow warning in this regard.

Similarly, heavy rainfall is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Cuttack, Dhenkanal, Sundargarh, Deogarh, Bargarh, Sonepur, Boudh and Bolangir on the day, said the IMD.

Besides, the IMD has predicted light to moderate rain or thundershower at most places over the districts of North Odisha and at many places over the districts of South Odisha on August 16.

August 17: Heavy to very heavy rainfall is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Nuapada, Bolangir, Kalahandi, Bargarh, Sonepur and Sambalpur on August 17, said the weather bulletin.

Similarly, heavy rainfall may lash one or two places over the districts of Nabarangpur, Koraput, Kandhamal, Boudh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Sundargarh, Deogarh and Jharsuguda on the day. The IMD has issued a Yellow warning in this regard.

Besides, light to moderate rain or thundershower is very likely to occur at most places over the districts of Odisha on August 17.

August 18: The IMD has predicted heavy rainfall at one or two places over the districts of Nabarangpur, Nuapada, Koraput, Bargarh and Bolangir on August 18.

Similarly, light to moderate rain or thundershower is very likely to occur at most places over the districts of Interior Odisha and at many places over the districts of Coastal Odisha on the day.
