IMD predicts fresh spell of heavy to very heavy rainfall in Odisha from July 31; check details

Bhubaneswar: The IMD has predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall in several districts of Odisha for two days starting July 31.

The Monsoon Trough at mean sea level continues to pass through Ganganagar, Narnaul, Gwalior, Sidhi, Ambikapur, Jharsuguda, Chandbali and thence southeastwards to East-Central Bay of Bengal extending up to 0.9 km above mean sea level. The north-south trough from cyclonic circulation over north Odisha and adjoining areas of Gangetic West Bengal and Jharkhand to west Assam between 1.5 & 3.1 km above mean sea level persists, said the IMD in its weather bulletin today.

July 31: As per the prediction, heavy to very heavy rainfall is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Dhenkanal, Angul, Sambalpur, Sonepur, Boudh, Bolangir, Kandhamal on July 31. The IMD has issued an orange warning in this regard.

Besides, the IMD has issued a yellow warning of heavy rainfall for Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Deogarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Khurda, Puri, Ganjam, Nayagarh and Kalahandi districts of Odisha on July 31.

Similarly, light to moderate rain or thundershower is very likely to occur at most places over the districts of Odisha on the day, said the IMD.

August 1: According to the IMD, heavy to very heavy rainfall is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Bargarh, Sambalpur, Sonepur, Boudh, Bolangir, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Nuapada, Deogarh and Jharsuguda on August 1. The regional centre of IMD has issued an orange warning in this regard.

The IMD has issued a yellow warning of heavy rainfall at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Sundargarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Nabarangpur on August 1.

Besides, light to moderate rain or thundershower is very likely to occur at most places over the districts of Odisha on the day, said the IMD.

The IMD has predicted heavy rainfall at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Sundargarh, Deogarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Bargarh, Sonepur, Kalahandi, Kandhamal and Boudh on July 29.

As per the weather forecast, heavy rainfall is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Dhenkanal, Angul, Sambalpur, Keonjhar, Deogarh, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Sonepur, Boudh, Bolangir and Kandhamal on July 30.
