IMD predicts heavy downpour in 14 Odisha districts on Sept 30; Orange warning issued
Bhubaneswar: At least 14 districts in Odisha are likely to witness heavy downpour on September 30 (Saturday) under the influence of a low pressure area over Bay of Bengal, predicted the IMD today.
The low-pressure area over northeast and adjoining east central Bay of Bengal and the associated cyclonic circulation extending up to 7.6 km above mean sea level persist. It is likely to become well marked low pressure area and move northwestwards towards north Odisha and adjoining West Bengal coasts during next 48 hours, said the IMD in it weather bulletin.
Under the influence of the low pressure area, heavy to very heavy rainfall (7 to 20 cm) is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Jajpur, Bhadrak and Balasore on September 30. The IMD has issued an Orange warning in this regard.
Similarly, one or two places over the districts of Sundargarh, Deogarh, Sambalpur, Angul, Dhenkanal, Cuttack, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur and Khurda may witness heavy rainfall (7 to 11 cm) on the day, said the IMD while issuing a Yellow warning.
Besides, thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Sonepur, Boudh, Kandhamal, Bolangir and Kalahandi on September 30, added the IMD.
As per the prediction, light to moderate rain/thundershower is very likely to occur at most places over the districts of North Odisha and at many places over the districts of South Odisha on the day.
