IMD predicts rain in several Odisha districts in next two days

Bhubaneswar: Several parts of southern Odisha are likely to witness rainfall for two days starting November 21 due to a depression over southwest and adjoining southeast Bay of Bengal, predicted the India Meteorological Department (IMD) today.

As per the prediction, light to moderate rain or thundershower is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Gajapati, Rayagada, Malkangiri, Koraput and Nabarangpur on November 21.

Similarly, light to moderate rain is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Gajapati, Rayagada, Malkangiri, Koraput and Nabarangpur on November 22, said the IMD regional centre here in its evening bulletin today.

However, dry weather is likely to prevail in the remaining districts of Odisha, added the bulletin.

The depression over southwest and adjoining southeast Bay of Bengal moved nearly northwestwards with a speed of 6 km per hour during past 6 hours and lay centered around 580 km east of Jaffna (Sri Lanka), 600 km east of Karaikal and 630 km southeast of Chennai. It is very likely to maintain its intensity of depression and move slowly west-northwestwards towards North Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and south Andhra Pradesh coasts in the next 48 hours, said the IMD.
