IMD predicts rain, thunderstorm in several Odisha districts till May 28

Bhubaneswar: Several districts in Odisha may witness rain or thunderstorm till May 28, said the IMD in its weather bulletin today.

Light rain or thunderstorm has occurred at one or two places over the districts of Sambalpur, Jharsuguda, Mayurbhanj, Deogarh, Bargarh, Sonepur, Keonjhar, Sundargarh, Bolangir and Khurda in Odisha in the last 24 hours, said the weatherman.

As per the IMD prediction, light to moderate rain or thunderstorm is very likely to occur at a few places over the districts of Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Boudh, Nayagarh, Angul, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore and at one or two places over the remaining districts of Odisha by 8.30 am on May 25 (Thursday) .

The MeT department has issued a yellow warning of thunderstorm with lightning and gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph at one or two places over the districts of Nabarangpur, Nuapada, Koraput, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Rayagada, Gajapati, Ganjam, Nayagarh, Khurda, Boudh, Cuttack, Angul, Dhenkanal, Jajpur, Bhadrak, Balasore, Keonjhar and Mayurbhanj by Thursday morning.

May 25: Light to moderate rain or thunderstorm is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Coastal Odisha, Koraput, Malkangiri, Rayagada, Kandhamal, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Angul and dry weather is very likely to prevail over the remaining districts of Odisha on May 25, said the IMD.

Besides, thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Gajapati, Ganjam, Kandhamal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Jajpur and Bhadrak on May 25. The MeT department has issued a yellow warning in this regard.

May 26: As per the prediction, light to moderate rain or thunderstorm is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Coastal Odisha, Koraput, Malkangiri, Rayagada, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Dhenkanal and dry weather is very likely to prevail over the remaining districts of Odisha on May 26. Moreover, thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Gajapati, Ganjam and Kandhamal on the day. A yellow warning has been issued in this regard.

May 27: Light to moderate rain or thunderstorm is very likely to occur at a few places over the districts of Coastal Odisha, Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Boudh, Kandhamal and at one or two places over the remaining districts of Odisha on May 27, said the IMD.

The MeT department has issued a yellow warning of thunderstorm with lightning and gusty surface wind speed reaching 40-50 kmph at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Dhenkanal, Angul, Boudh, Kandhamal, Ganjam and thunderstorm with lightning at one or two places over the districts of Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Gajapati, Sundargarh, Kalahandi and Bolangir on the day.

May 28: Light to moderate rain or thunderstorm is very likely to occur at a few places over the districts of Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Gajapati, Ganjam, Kandhamal, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak and at one or two places over the remaining districts of Odisha on May 18, predicted the weatherman.

Besides, thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Gajapati, Ganjam, Kandhamal, Kalahandi, Nabarangpur, Boudh, Mayurbhanj, Balasore and Bhadrak on the day. The IMD has issued a yellow warning in this regard.
