IMD predicts rain, thunderstorm in several Odisha districts till May 31

Bhubaneswar: Several districts of Odisha may witness rain or thunderstorm till May 31, predicted the IMD in its weather bulletin today.

Light to moderate rain or thunderstorm has occurred at a few places over the districts of Coastal Odisha and at one or two places over the districts Of Interior Odisha during the past 24 hours. Gusty surface winds have been reported from the districts of Koraput, Nayagarh, Khurda, Cuttack, Dhenkanal and Jagatsinghpur during the period, said the IMD.

As per the prediction, light to moderate rain or thunderstorm is very likely to occur at a few places over the districts of Coastal Odisha, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Dhenkanal and at one or two places over the remaning districts of Odisha by 8.30 am on May 28 (Sunday).

Besides, thunderstorm with lightning and gusty surface wind speed reaching 40-50 kmph is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj and Khurda by 8.30 am on Sunday, said the IMD.

Similarly, thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Puri, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Sundargarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Kandhamal, Rayagada and Koraput till Sunday morning.

May 28:  Light to moderate rain or thunderstorm is very likely to occur at a few places over the districts of Coastal Odisha, Mayurbhanj, Dhenkanal, Kandhamal and at one or two places over the remaining districts of Odisha on May 28, said the IMD.

As per the prediction, thunderstorm with lightning and gusty surface wind speed reaching 40-50 kmph is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Mayurbhanj, Dhenkanal and Kandhamal on the day.

Thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Keonjhar, Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada and Angul on May 28, predicted the MeT department.

“Rain or thunderstorm is likely to occur in the capital city of Bhubaneswar in the next 24 hours,” said the MeT department.

May 29: A few places over the districts of Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Nabarangpur, Gajapati, Ganjam and Kandhamal may witness light to moderate rain or thunderstorm on May 29, said the forecast.

Thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Nabarangpur, Gajapati, Ganjam, Kandhamal, Kalahandi, Nuapada, Bolangir, Boudh, Angul, Keonjhar and Mayurbhanj on the day. The IMD has issued a yellow warning in this regard.

May 30: The MeT department predicts light to moderate rain or thunderstorm at a few places over the districts of Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Gajapati, Ganjam, Nawarangpur and at one or two places over the remaining districts of Coastal Odisha, Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Angul, Dhenkanal, Kandhamal, Kalahandi, Nuapada and Bolangir on May 30.

Thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Gajapati, Ganjam, Nabarangpur, Kandhamal, Kalahandi, Keonjhar and Mayurbhanj on the day.

May 31: Light to moderate rain or thunderstorm is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Malkangiri, Koraput, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Gajapati, Ganjam, Kandhamal and at one or two places over the remaining districts of Odisha on May 31, said the IMD forecast.

Thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Malkangiri, Koraput, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Gajapati, Ganjam, Kandhamal, Keonjhar and Mayurbhanj on May 31. The IMD has issued a yellow warning in this regard.
