IMD predicts rain, thunderstorm in these Odisha districts on April 28

Bhubaneswar: Several districts of Odisha are likely to witness thunderstorm with lightning and gusty surface wind reaching up to 40-50 kmph on April 28, predicted the IMD regional centre here today.

Thunderstorm with lightning and gusty surface wind is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Rayagada, Gajapati and Ganjam on April 28. The IMD has issued an Orange warning for these districts.

Similarly, heavy rainfall is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Nabarangpur, Kalahandi and Kandhamal, said the IMD.

“People are advised to keep a watch on the weather and take safe shelter during the thunderstorm to protect them from lightning. The commuters should also follow traffic advisories in urban areas,” added the weatherman.

The IMD also issued the Yellow warning of thunderstorm with lightning and gusty surface wind reaching up to 30-40 kmph for Malkangiri, Koraput, Nuapada, Bolangir, Sonepur, Sambalpur, Boudh, Angul, Nayagarh, Cuttack, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar and Mayurbhanj districts of Odisha on April 28, said the weather report.

As per the prediction, light to moderate rain or thunderstorm is very likely to occur at many places over the districts of south interior Odisha and at a few places over the remaining districts of Odisha on the day.
