IMD warns of heatwave in Odisha during Pana Sankranti

Bhubaneswar: With the mercury soaring across Odisha in last two days, the IMD warned of heatwave in the state during upcoming Pana Sankranti festival.

According IMD, maximum temperature is likely to rise gradually by 2-4 degree Celsius over many parts of Odisha during next five days.

The weathermen predicted heatwave in isolated pockets over coastal Odisha districts during April 13 and 15.

Today, the day temperature was above 37 degree C in most of the places before 12 noon. By 11.30 am, while Bhubaneswar stood at 39 degree C, Sambalpur recorded 38 degree C, Jharsuguda 37.6 degree C, Chandbali 37.4 degree C, Balasore 36.8 degree C, Hirakud 36.2 degree C, Keonjhar 35.4 degree C, Gopalpur 34 degree C, Puri 33.8 degree C and Paradip 32.8 degree C.
