Impressive show of Odisha culture by Odias in Mumbai on Utkala Dibasa

Mumbai/Bhubaneswar: Odias in India and abroad celebrated Utkala Dibasa, remembering the greats who had fought for the statehood. Odisha was the first state to be formed on linguistic basis on April 1, 1936.

In Mumbai’s Palava City, Odias got together to celebrate the day with fevour and zeal. Palava City is home to around 750 Odia families.

The event started with an Odissi performance by the students of Stuti Sahu on the State Anthem, ‘Bade Utkala Janani’.

Local BJP leader Ravi Dharm Patil, social activists Manik Shukla and Adibari were the guests of honour. They along with sand artist Narayan Sahu and Stuti Sahu were felicitated on the occasion.

The Odias in the locality put up an impressive cultural show, which was enjoyed by one and all. “We generally miss home and this was a great opportunity to meet fellow Odias, sing and dance to our heart’s content,” said Stuti Sahu, who had played an active part in organising the event.

The event ended on a musical note with cult song, Rangabati.

Besides ‘aludum-dahibara’ stall, the organisers had prepared ‘dalma’ on the occasion.
