In Pics: 12-hour Angul bandh underway in Odisha

Angul: The bandh called by Bharatiya Janata Party is underway in Angul district of Odisha and will continue till 6 pm today.

The 12-hour bandh is a protest for incidents such as rising atrocities against minor girls and eyes of bodies gouged out in morgue of Angul District Headquarters Hospital.

BJP workers are sitting in protest at Hulurusinga Chhak on NH-55.

Demanding investigation of these cases and action against the accused, the district unit of the saffron party has given the bandh call. The party also demanded immediate arrest of the accused in the incident of an eight-year-old girl being allegedly raped behind Aahaar Centre in the town on July 20.

According to sources, shops, market places, schools, colleges and government institutions are closed. Roads have been blocked and vehicular movement has also been restricted.

Worth mentioning, the accused in the alleged rape of the eight-year-old girl has been arrested yesterday and forwarded to court.
