In Pics: When Bhubaneswar roads were deserted during lockdown

Bhubaneswar: On March 15, 2020, exactly a year ago, Odisha reported its first COVID-19 case. The patient was a resident of Badagada area in Bhubaneswar, who had returned from Italy. In a bid to contain the spread of the virus, the state government later announced lockdown.

The capital city emerged as the first hotspot of Odisha as Surya Nagar and Bomikhal areas were declared as containment zones as several persons of the locality tested COVID positive. Later, some other parts of Bhubaneswar were also tagged as containment zones.

Roads, malls, and other public places in the city wore deserted look during the next couple of months due to the imposition of the lockdown.
