In pictures: Designer Reemly Mohanty takes Odisha art forms to Bombay Times Fashion Week

Bhubaneswar/Mumbai: Odisha designer Reemly Mohanty set the stage afire with her tribute to local art of the state on Day 2 of the recently concluded Bombay Times Fashion Week in St. Regis Hotel, Mumbai.

Reemly showcased her collection 'Kalavati-Treasures of Odisha', dedicated to the exquisite art forms of Odisha such as Pattachitra, Pipili appliqué work, Dongria art and Ikat. These art forms are manifested by rich colourful application,creative motifs and designs in ensembles for both men and women.

"The designs reverberate with the soul of the art and culture inspired by the great land of Kalinga and it’s timeless tradition and art. All my designs are dedicated to the art and handicrafts of Odisha ," said Reemly.

Natural dyes, organic colours and handmade fabrics were used to parade the 18 outfits designed by this Bhubaneswar-based designer. Her team at Reemly's Design Studio created these contemporary attires in just a week's time.

Pattachitra designed Anarkalis, lehengas, Ikat pants, ombre-dyed gowns and Pattachitra painted sherwani, Ikat bandh galas with asymmetric flared kurtas, Pipili appliqué work and Dongria embellished bandh galas and Nehru jackets for men are a few designs that constituted her line in the 'Kalavati' collection.

Yamaha Fascino Miss Diva 2018 Runner-up Roshni Sheoran walked the ramp as showstopper for Reemly. She sported a red applique lehenga and her glittering tiara while the designer herself wore a silk Pasapali saree from her home state.

Similarly, Indian supermodel and Miss Tourism International 2001, Candice Pinto modelled a purple Pattachitra painted Anarkali.

The audience applauded the designs and showered compliments on the designer. "Many people told me that the outfits were unique, yet wearable. I feel happy that I am contributing in whatever way I can to endorse and advance Odia art and handiwork. Experience was great, and getting a platform like this to showcase my collection was itself an achievement for me," gushed an excited Reemly.
