The IT department probe would aim at finding out whether the huge amount of cash seized from the MPs’ residence were his own earnings or he had got it from other sources.

Following the CBI raid, the BJD MP  Hansda had told media persons that his association with the Nabadiganta Capital Service began when one of the company officials approached him and persuaded him to have an insurance policy in 2011.He also said since the company  had given him an impression that it would work for the welfare of the youth by providing them with jobs, he had no reason to suspect its intent at that point in time.

Hansda had said that as a matter of policy, he and five others had separately bought eight per cent share in the company and the rest 52 per cent shares remained with  the original owner of the Nabadiganta company . He had claimed that it was decided that they would all adhere to the non-banking finance rules, he added.

Hansda claimed that he had given Rs 7 lakh to the company when it was passing through difficult times.

He had told reporters,  “I had got the money (Rs 7 lakh) from the State Assembly as an MLA towards arrears. The company repaid only Rs 1 lakh. When the balance amount was not returned, I suspected foul play. Despite my repeated requests the company did not return my money. In November 2012, I resigned from the company but the company accepted it only in May 2013. I had not pressed for the acceptance of my resignation, only because I was hoping to get back my money”.

On being asked about the seizure of Rs 28 lakh by the CBI from his house, Hansda had said he had arranged the money from different sources to buy land at Baripada.

“Out of Rs 28 lakh, I had managed to save Rs 10 lakh from the party funds by cutting down on my election expenses. The rest amount of Rs 18 lakh was arranged from other sources,” he had said then.
