India Surf Festival enters second day in Odisha

Explosive action followed all through on the second day of the India Surf Festival (ISF) 2015 today as the beach at Ramchandi near Konark in Odisha’s Puri district played host to Asian Surf Championship with the battle of waves making for a more spirited competitive atmosphere.

surfing“This time the championship was of an international level where the rules and regulations were followed using the same tools that are used in international competitions. It was a new learning where judges had many suggestions” said Andy, director of ISF.

Asian Surfing Championships is conducting the championship for the first time in India at ISF and the response was overwhelming.

“I started off in a bit of a rhythm, I was lucky to get a nice scoring wave early and back it up” said Manimaram, a surfer, who believes this was his best performance till now.

The championship was followed by a stand-up paddling workshop and a long boarding workshop.

Nearly 20 people, including six women lined up to learn the long boarding tricks. The workshop was conducted by a bunch of youngsters of from Long Board Crew India, Mumbai.

Kitesurfing Lanka demonstrated their skills again and taught a few tricks to budding kitesurfers from India.

Sports DJs kept the vibe going on the beach. Sebastian aka 120Dub and Mista Hagen from Goa were on the console playing music that complemented the energy of the sports.

While people enjoyed yoga on water, SUP workshop and slack lining, there were live painting sessions and painting exhibitions by several artists including Lizzy from My Destiny and Nikkie Gargi from Bhubaneswar.

The day ended with super performance by Alchimix, a music band from Goa.

Meanwhile, Sitarsonic, led by Paco Rodriguez, is back to play at ISF after getting amazing response last year.
