Indian Politicians with the Best Educational Qualifications

There is an abundance of political parties and politicians ruling our country. When it comes to knowing our political leaders, most of us do not know information beyond their names, parties, and the states they belong to. Wouldn’t you want to know more about the people who formulate policies, rules, and regulations for us to follow? Among the many, there are a few politicians who have been conferred with high education and noteworthy degrees. Here’s a list of those Indian politicians and their educational qualifications:

  • Manmohan Singh:

The ex-prime Minister of India, Mr. Manmohan Singh is the most educated Prime Minister our country has ever had. He attended Nuffiel College-Oxford University and earned his D.Phill degree. He completed his course in ‘Economic Tripos’ from St. John’s College- University of Cambridge. Additionally, he completed his Bachelors and Masters of Arts in Economics from Punjab University.

  • Kapil Sibal:

He is a member of the parliament who belongs to the Indian National Congress Party. He has served as the Ex-Minister of Law and Justice. He is a lawyer who has formerly also worked as a Minister in the Ministry of Human Resources in the Fifteenth Lok Sabha Cabinet of the Government of India. He has completed his education at Harvard Law School in 1977. He also completed M.A in history and LLB from the University of Delhi.

  • Shashi Tharoor:

Ah, most certainly right.? This Indian politician is very famous for his impeccable language skills. All credit to him, we have all learned some really fascinating words. He is a politician and writer. So far, Mr. Shahshi Tharoor has written nineteen books in English and has a columnist in India’s best-known English newspapers. He earned his B. A in history degree from the University of Delhi went to Tuft’s University’s The FletcherSchool of Law and Diplomacy in 1975 and completed his Ph.D. at the young age of 22.

  • Akhilesh Yadav:

The regional political and president of the Samajwadi Party has also served as the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh from 2012 to 2017. He first went to the Dholpur Military School in Rajasthan, obtained his bachelor’s and Masters’s Degree in Civil Environmental Engineering from Sri Jayachamarajendra College of Engineering. Later on, he pursued another Master’s degree in Environmental Engineering from the University of Sydney in Australia.

  • Arun Jaitley:

This Indian politician has passed away but during his tenure as the Minister of Finance and Corporate Affairs, he served India well. He completed his schooling at St. Xavier’s School- Delhi in the year 1969. He then graduated with an Honours degree in commerce, B.Com from Shri Ram College of Commerce, New Delhi. For further education, Mr. Arun Jaitley acquired an LLB degree from the Faculty of Law, the University of Delhi in 1977.

  • P. Chidambaram:

Palaniappan Chidambaram is a politician and a former lawyer who currently serves as a Member of Parliament, Rajya Sabha, and has formerly served as the Union Finance Minister. He completed his bachelor’s in Law from Madras law college, Master’s from Loyola College, Chennai, and earned a B.Sc Statistics degree from Chennai’s Presidency College. To add another feather to his cap, he pursued a Master’s in Business Administration from the Harvard Business School in 1968.

Before joining politics, Subramaniam Swamy was a professor of Mathematical Economics at The Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi. A Master’s degree in Mathematics has been conferred upon him by the Hindu College, University of Delhi. He also earned another Master’s degree in Statistics from Indian Statistical Institute, Kolkata. Later, he pursued a Ph.D. in economics from Harvard University

The former Chief Minister of Goa who passed away last year studied at Loyola High School, Margao. He then completed his secondary education in Marathi and graduated in metallurgical engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay in 1978. He is the first-ever IIT alumnus who served as an MLA for a state in India.

    Thankfully, we have a female to add to this list. Najma Heptualla is the Governor of Manipur and the former Vice President of the Bhartiya Janta Party. She is currently serving as the Minister of Minority Affairs. Najma Heptulla earned her Ph.D. in Cardiac Anatomy and M.Sc Degree in Zoology from Vikram University, Ujjain.

  • Dr. Murli Manohar Joshi:

The former president of the Bharatiya Janta Party was a professor of Physics at Allahabad University. He started teaching at his Alma Mater from where he had earned a doctoral degree in M.Sc. He had completed his Bachelor’s and earned a B.Sc degree from Meerut College.
