Leading domestic air service operator IndiGo is all set to launch its Bengaluru-Kolkata flights via Biju Patnaik International Airport (BPIA) of Odisha capital starting January 1, 2016.

As per the flight schedule submitted to BPIA authorities, the plane from Bengaluru would land in BPIA at 6 AM and then leave for Kolkata. Similarly, on its return journey, it would halt at Bhubaneswar before flying for Bangalore in the evening.

“The new flights would help the passengers to return to Bhubaneswar after finishing their work in Kolkata on the same day,” said Director of Biju Patnaik International Airport Sharad Kumar.

As of now, Indigo operates only one plane to BPIA from Bengaluru that lands in Bhubaneswar at 1:25 PM and departs at 2.15 PM on its return journey.

So far, there are a total 19 flights to New Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Vizag, Port Blair, Bengaluru and Varanasi from Bhubaneswar. The total number of flights from BPIA would go up to 21 with the launch of the new Indigo flights.
