Infant dies, 4 others critical in bee attack in Odisha’s Nabarangpur

Bhubaneswar: A six-month-old girl, who had sustained critical injuries in bee attack yesterday, died while being treated at a hospital in Nabarangpur district of Odisha today.

The deceased has been identified as Ambika, daughter of Tikiram Majhi, of Phuljhari village under Jharigaon block in Nabarangpur.

According to villagers, a swarm of bees attacked Tikiram, his wife Tula and their three daughters while the family was collecting mahua from a tree near their house yesterday morning.

All members of Tikiram’s family, including his youngest daughter Ambika, sustained critical injuries in the bee attack, sources said.

The villagers rescued the injured and rushed them to Jharigaon community health centre (CHC).

The injured infant was later shifted to another hospital at Umerkote after her condition deteriorated. She died while being treated at the hospital today morning, sources said.
