Injured leopard rescued from Dasapalla forest in Odisha; OUAT experts to treat the animal

Bhubaneswar: Wildlife wing of the Forest department has rescued an injured leopard from Dasapalla forest in Odisha’s Nayagarh district.

The Rapid Response Team from Chandaka Division with assistance from Forest staff of Mahanadi division rescued the injured leopard from Dasapalla forest yesterday, said Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (Wildlife) Susanta Nanda today.

The sub-adult leopard has been brought to the veterinary hospital at Nandankanan Zoological Park (NZP) in Odisha capital. A team of experts from the Odisha University of Agriculture and Technology (OUAT) are now treating the injured leopard.

The Forest department officials rescued and transported the injured leopard to Nandankanan after tranquilizing it.

“Experts from OUAT and Nandankanan have examined the injured leopard. The animal does not have any external injuries. It might have some internal injuries. The experts will conduct X-ray and other medical procedures to ascertain the health condition of the leopard and treat it accordingly. We hope for its speedy recovery,” said the PCCF.
