Input subsidy for farmers affected by cyclone Titli in Odisha  

Bhubaneswar: In a major relief, the State Government would provide input subsidy to farmers affected by the recent cyclone Titli and subsequent flood.

Speaking to mediapersons here, Joint Relief Commissioner Prabhat Ranjan Mohapatra today said the Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) has directed Collectors of all affected districts and the Agriculture department to conduct field inspection and submit reports in this regard soon. On the basis of the reports, input subsidy will be provided to the affected farmers.

“Rs 13,500 per hectare will be given to the affected  farmers for irrigated land and Rs 6,800 for non-irrigated land. The subsidy will be given to maximum 2 hectares of land,” Mohapatra said.

Earlier on Thursday, SRC Bishnupada Sethi had informed that Odisha incurred damage amounting to Rs 2765 crore due to cyclone Titli and subsequent flood.

While 57 persons were killed, 2,63,367 hectares of crop area and 56930 houses were damaged in the natural calamity, official sources said.
